他也曾有很小的时候。当他开始要吵时，我随手塞给他一张纸片，就把他骗了。为了谋生，我曾把他带在身边。在白水中学的车床车间外，他在门口等我，我就车一个小陀螺给他。在去洛阳的货车上，车斗里载着床架，我们就伏在高高晃晃的床架上。我用我的有力的手，一只手抱着他，一只手抓住铁架。
孩子，我们现在宽心了，我们为你而骄傲。 |

Cannot recall what you were playing with.
One thing is certain:
it was neither cartoon nor Nintendo. But you were playing,
and happy, and contented.
Cannot recall whether we were still in the countryside,
or back in town,
but one thing is certain:
there was no color
film or digital camera. But we have overcome, with help,
and by our own.
We are fortunate, for we have you, and Sandy.
You are fortunate, for you have us, and our Lord.
But we are waiting to see our
grandchild, boy or girl, all welcome!

但你在玩，而且快乐，而且知足。
不记得我们是回城了或还在下乡，不过肯定没有彩色胶卷，更没有数码相机。
但我们也都过来了，靠了很多好人的帮助，也靠我们自己的努力。
我们是有福的，因为我们有你（现在，还有了秀娟）。
你们也是有福的，因为你们有我们，还有上帝。
不过，老爸老妈可在等孙了（孙儿孙女都好）！卅十而立，该有了。
