Kevin
is now 17 months old, and often wants to do things as he pleases.
When Sandy has class, Kevin comes here in the mornings, sometimes
for the whole day. His grandma is good at feeding him, coaxing
him, and playing with him, so he seldom wants me. Today
(Monday, 8-9-2004), however, he gave me a pleasant surprise when
I came home from work. As soon as he saw me, he stood up
and reached out for me. I abandoned my bag and went to him
right away. No sooner was he in my arms than he motioned
me to the patio door. "It's too hot outside,"
I said, "90 degrees." He was not satisfied, and
was going to let out his temper when his grandma came with a flyswatter.
"Look outside," she told him, "flies, flies, flap,
flap." Resigned, Kevin went back to operate
his lawnmower.
