一叶知秋 a single leaf

The Fall is here. The persimmon in our backyard looks pretty big. Walking the streets, a single, abandoned basket ball by the roadside often recalled Xiamen University to my mind. We lived on the campus for ten years, and we used to have a volleyball. The first day our boys took it out to play, they came home without it. It was never found or returned.

A single leaf heralds the Fall, so the saying goes, accompanied by street photograph below. Thanksgiving and Christmas is around the corner, happy holidays to you all.

秋天来了，我们后院的柿子今年长得比往年大。上街走路，看到永远遗落在路旁的蓝球，往往想起我们住了十年的厦大。当年我们的两个孩子把家里的排球拿出去玩，回家时没带回，就永远不见了。
